ATLANTA, GA – A federal jury in the Northern District of Georgia has awarded more than $300,000 in damages to a former housekeeper and caregiver who was sexually harassed and wrongfully terminated from Coventry Holding Group.

The plaintiff, Dedria Miller, who worked 80-hour weeks in dual roles as a housekeeper and caregiver at Coventry, a retirement and assisted living community, was fired immediately after reporting sexual harassment by a newly hired office manager. The jury found that management’s claim that Miller had threatened her harasser was false and pretextual.

The jury awarded Ms. Miller backpay along with compensatory and punitive damages.

“This was a very difficult situation for our client, but we are grateful to the jury for fulfilling the promise of justice,” said attorney Matt Billips, who tried the case alongside Aaron Maduff.

“While ours may not be the perfect system, when it works, it reminds us that we have advanced to a more enlightened society that respects the dignity and rights of all its members,” added Aaron Maduff.

The case was tried before Judge Thomas Thrash in the Northern District of Georgia.
