New Associate Attorneys Niki Hakimzadeh and Emory Loescher

Barrett & Farahany is pleased to announce that two of our law clerks, Niki Hakimzadeh and Emory Loescher, have been promoted to associate attorneys following their passage of the bar.

Prior to her recent passing of the Illinois Bar, Niki Hakimzadeh earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, graduating summa cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Coif. During law school, she externed for the Honorable Judge John Robert Blakey of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and interned with the ACLU of Illinois, where she worked on prisoners’ rights litigation.

Niki also worked as a student attorney in the First Amendment Clinic, representing clients whose free speech rights had been restricted. Niki was an active member of the Moot Court and Trial Teams and served as Managing Notes Editor of the Illinois Law Review. Her Note, You’re Not Alone: Reconceptualizing Solitary Confinement from the Default Punishment to a Last Resort by Focusing on Mental Health, was published in the Illinois Law Review.

Prior to her passing of the Minnesota Bar, Emory Loescher earned her J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, graduating cum laude. During law school, she was involved in the Student Bar Association, Workers’ Rights Clinic, and the Labor & Employment Law Society. She is also a member of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia. In her first year, she placed in the Top 10 Oral Advocates in her law school’s Moot Court Competition.

Emory also served in WCL’s Community Equity and Economic Development Clinic, where she assisted small businesses, workers’ cooperatives, and housing cooperatives in legal matters. Her interest in employment law developed while taking an employment discrimination course. Afterward, she wrote a legal research pathfinder titled “The State of the Landscape of Pay Discrimination Cases Following the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009”.

Congratulations to Niki and Emory!
