Transcript: The North Carolina Wage and Hour Act Is Good For Employees

North Carolina actually has a pretty good wage and hour statute that protects employees in their wage payment expectancy.

So, for example, we’ve got a statute here that covers situations where let’s say you’re a commissioned salesperson and you’re not getting paid the proper Commission amount.

Not only does our statute protect you, but it allows you to recover up to double the amount of what the company owed you, which is not the case everywhere.

Not every state allows you to access multiples at the unpaid wages if the employer refuses to pay.

So, it is a particularly good piece of law for North Carolina employees.

And I would say it’s actually so good for employees that I’ve been successful in bringing motions for summary judgment on behalf of the plaintiff to establish at the very least liability to establish damages as well.

So, it is a very powerful statute to ensure that your compensation expectancy is fulfilled.
