Charleen Barnwell is a Case Evaluation Attorney with Barrett & Farahany. Charleen has worked for a number of corporations and law firms but found working to help prevent and address unfair discrimination practices and inequality to be rewarding. Charleen believes that taking a hard line on discrimination can have many other benefits for an organization’s culture, reputation, and overall success.
Prior to joining Barrett & Farahany, Charleen worked as an employee benefits attorney and compliance consultant with a number of corporations and law firms. Her 22 years in the employee benefits legal space have equipped her with unique insight into the needs of corporate employees particularly in the denial of benefits on the basis of retaliation, underfunded retirement plans and more.
Charleen’s work ethic is to work hard but smart, to problem-solve and be creative with obstacles and to persist until successful. She embraces the next opportunity to serve someone who has been wronged – to help be the voice for those whose injustices are ignored, overlooked, or blatantly denied.
Charleen holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Michigan State University, College of Law, a Bachelor of Arts degree from South Carolina State University, where she majored in Political Science (Cum Laude) and a Master of Public Administration from Georgia Southern University. She is a native of South Carolina.
In her spare time, Charleen enjoys traveling and attending sporting events with her family.
