Severin Roberts is a Partner at Barrett & Farahany and the head of the Wage and Hour group. Severin’s practice is devoted to representing clients in employment law matters, with a particular focus on wage and hour litigation, including individual Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) claims and large collective actions. An equally significant portion of Severin’s practice is dedicated to representing clients in traditional employment litigation, including claims of sexual harassment, violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and gender, pregnancy, race, age, and disability discrimination. Severin helped obtain the largest verdict in Georgia against an employer for race discrimination.

Severin has been named to the 2021 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. This is the second year in a row that he has been included in this exclusive group of attorneys.

Severin’s interest in representing employees in workplace legal matters grew from a close family member losing their long-term career due to potential discrimination. This experience has been a lifelong reminder to Severin of the importance of the work he and others in the firm do.

Before joining Barrett & Farahany, Severin worked at a boutique litigation firm where he gained extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in employment, tort, and commercial litigation cases, including actions brought under the FLSA, Title VII race, gender, retaliation, and religious discrimination, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and the Equal Pay Act.

One of Severin’s recent successes was achieved at trial in an overtime case that was highlighted on the front page of The Daily Report. The judge pointed out that the experience, reputation, and the ability of the plaintiff’s attorneys were among the factors supporting his finding that the company had to pay the plaintiff’s attorney’s fees.

Severin is a graduate of Tulane University Law School and a member of the Georgia Bar. While in law school, Severin was selected to serve in Tulane’s Domestic Violence Litigation Clinic, through which he represented victims of domestic violence in a variety of civil litigation matters. Severin is admitted to practice in the Northern and Middle Federal District Courts of Georgia, the 11th Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the State of Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Georgia Supreme Court. Severin is also an Atlanta native and a proud father of three children.
