Amelia A. Ragan
Amelia A. Ragan is an Associate Attorney with Barrett & Farahany, LLP. She has dedicated her practice to protecting employees’ rights in the workplace. Amelia has served as lead counsel in employment litigation in both state and federal courts, mediations, and arbitrations on claims of race, age, gender, pregnancy, and disability discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, contract disputes, and violations of the Family Medical Leave Act. She also advises employees on employment contracts and non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
Amelia graduated from the University of Tennessee with degrees in Political Science and Sociology. She received her Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in 2010. During law school, Amelia received the prestigious Salomon Award and the 2009 Custer-Tuggle Award for her academic performance and the 2010 Outstanding Graduate Award for her commitment and contributions to ethics and social consciousness in the legal profession.
Amelia served as the Editor-in-Chief of the John Marshall Law Journal, wherein she led the Journal to publish its first multi-volume edition. Amelia was also a member of the Moot Court board and competed in the Stetson National Moot Court Competition and the Georgia Intrastate Moot Court Competition.
Prior to joining Barrett & Farahany, Amelia practiced as a litigation associate in the Atlanta office of a national law firm where she represented Fortune 500 corporations. Amelia is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the National Employment Lawyers Association, Georgia Chapter. In her spare time, Amelia enjoys cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, attending the theatre, and reading.
